Finished AI and Drivable Cars


Hello everyone, 

I'm making another progress update for my project to inform that I have implemented the mechanic for the AI vehicle and the other drivable cars, albeit with mixed results. The AI car follows the spline path pretty well until it turns a corner and either crashes into a wall or veers off path but if it's in a stable position it finds its way back, and some of the player drive well except the steering is a bit stiff and wonky at high speeds. I'm also having an issue with some of the imported vehicles where the wheels are below the ground and I can't move, which may have something to do with how I exported it out of Blender but I'm not 100% certain.  If anyone has any experience with importing vehicles to UE5 and using Chaos and can give me a couple tips or guides I would appreciate it.

Tasks for the project:

  • Fix the steering and maybe add drifting mechanic
  • Set the game modes (circuit race, drag race)
  • Adjust the AI car's movement and the spline path
  • Add a main menu
  • Add and implement skid marks and smoke emitters
  • (Not confirmed) Car selection and customization menus
  • NOS mechanic for the other player vehicles
